I am a developmental-behavioral pediatrician, director of the Melmed Center and Co-founder and Medical Director of the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center.

Over the last 30 years of counseling children, both typical as well as those with developmental challenges, I have gathered a number of useful tools to assist them in managing common issues they struggle with. These include anxiety, stress, anxiety, making friends, and managing screen time!!.

I have learned that it is empowering and indeed essential for these kids, that they become integral in the treatment of these issues - to own them, be mindful of them and to overcome them.

The next step was to wrap these tools into a funny, edgy, engaging accessible storyline – thereby enhancing reading skills, teaching coping skills and of course learning to be the “boss of their own bodies!

That’s how the ST4 Mindfulness Series for Children was conceived. ST4 stands for Stop! Take Time To Think! One “S” and four “T”s.

The series includes Marvin’s Monster Diary – ADHD Attacks, Harriet’s Monster Diary – Awfully Anxious, Lyssa’s Monster Diary, Anger Explosions. and of course Timmy’s Monster Diary: Screen Time Attacks!  Timmy learns from his best buddies how to take charge of the situation.

I speak nationally to doctors, teachers, and parents on these topics and look forward to participating in your project!
